France expert team starts probe into plane crash

POKHARA, Jan 18: An expert team from France has reached the scene to probe the ATR plane crash of Yeti Airlines in Pokhara.

A nine-member expert team of ATR aircraft manufacturers came to Nepal. The expert team will observe the scene and discuss with those involved in the flight and find out the cause of the accident.

This is the first time that an ATR plane has crashed in Nepal. That is why the aircraft manufacturing company is concerned about the accident.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the five-member accident investigation commission formed by the government under the coordination of former secretary Nagendra Ghimire after the plane crash has also started working in Pokhara.

A member of the commission said that since the report of plane's black box will be delayed, it is not possible to say when the report will come.

The investigation has just started. Everything should be studied properly. One of the members of the commission said, "It will take some time for the final report to come.

A five-member accident investigation commission was formed under the coordination of former secretary Nagendra Ghimire. The members of the commission are Nepali Army retired Captain Deepak Prasad Bastola, retired Captain Sunil Pradhan, Air maintenance expert Ekraj Jang Thapa is a member of the commission and Buddhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is the member secretary of the commission.
