Foreign team in Nepal to assess air crash damage

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: A team of insurance surveyors and law professionals has arrived in Nepal to assess the damage of the Yeti Airlines plane crash that happened in Pokhara on Sunday.

Nepal Insurance Authority spokesperson Raju Raman Poudel informed that a surveyor team from Singapore and a team of legal professionals arrived in Kathmandu from India on Monday to assess the damaged assets and liabilities. He says that a British company that is an insurance broker has deployed a surveyor from Singapore.

Poudel also informed that there will be no problem for the payment of insurance claims of the passengers involved in the accident. The insured company also re-insured another company. After the money comes from the reinsurance, the payment is made by the insurance company. The insurance amount is paid based on the post-mortem report of the deceased', he said.

Spokesperson Poudel also informed that the meeting of the National Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee held at Singha Durbar on Monday instructed the families of the passengers involved in air accidents to facilitate insurance payments. He said that the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers are also interested in the payment of insurance claims.

All four crew and 68 passengers aboard the Yeti Airlines plane that crashed on Sunday have been confirmed dead.
