Domestic flights affected due to bad weather

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Due to the adverse weather conditions, the flights of most of the airports across the country have been affected, except Tribhuvan International Airport.

The airport office said that domestic flights were affected due to low visibility due to bad weather. General Manager of the airport, Premnath Thakur, said that the flights of all the airports outside Kathmandu have been affected. He said, "Kathmandu airport is open, almost all the airports outside are closed."

Air flights are affected due to low visibility due to haze/fog in the Terai region of the country. According to General Manager Thakur, even at Pokhara International Airport, flights have not been able to take off due to bad weather. In grief over the accident, Yeti Airlines has suspended all flights across the country today. There are flight schedules of various airlines to Pokhara destinations.

Currently, there is a general influence of western low pressure system in the country, according to the Department of Water and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division. Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki provinces will have partial to normal showers.

There is fog/fog in the Terai area. The division has informed that there is a possibility of light snowfall in a few places of high hilly and Himalayan areas of the country. 20 air service providers including 11 helicopter companies are flying domestically.
