Som Sapkota appointed Tourism Goodwill Ambassador to Wales

KATHMANDU, Jan 08: Som Sapkota has been appointed Tourism Goodwill Ambassador to Wales of the United Kingdom.  

The government has appointed Sapkota as tourism goodwill ambassador for four years for playing an active role in Nepal's tourism sector. Secretary Suresh Adhikari of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation handed over the appointment letter to Sapkota on Friday.

Sapkota is currently the Coordinator of Tourism Promotion Committee of Non-Resident Nepal Association (NRNA).

On that occasion, the secretary officer expressed his belief that Sapkota, which has been associated with the tourism sector for a long time, will expand and become stronger with the responsibility given by the government. Sapkota, the newly appointed Goodwill Ambassador, said that he will successfully carry out the responsibility entrusted by the state with the interest of the country and the Nepali diaspora.

"I have planned to run a government-to-government promotional campaign in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Nepal Tourism Board in coordination and cooperation with goodwill ambassadors from other countries," he said.

Sapkota, who was a member of the Tourism Promotion Committee of NRNA from 2007 to 2009, was deputy coordinator from 2013 to 2015.

Similarly, from 2016 to 2018, he worked as an honorary public representative of the Nepal Tourism Board for Denmark. Sapkota was appointed as an honorary public representative for Malta by the Nepal Tourism Board from 2019 to 2021.
