Humla storm disrupts air services

HUMLA, Jan 06: Air service in the Himalayan district of Humla has been disrupted by the storm. Simkot Airport has informed that the air service has been disrupted even today due to the storm in the district since Thursday.

Private planes that operate regular flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet have reported that their services have been disrupted due to the storm. Even though the only inter-district transportation service in the district is the air service, since two days there is no flight to go out of the district, the passengers with tickets in hand are stuck in Simkot. Passengers coming from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Simkot along with cargo goods have been stopped due to the suspension of air services.
   
The Simkot airport has informed that the transportation of passengers from Humla to Nepalgunj and Surkhet and passengers traveling from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Simkot is not possible.
 
Likewise, the transportation subsidy of foodstuff, daily consumables, vegetables and cargo goods of the Food Management and Trade Company Limited Company has not been able to be transported. After the sun rises, the flights are being operated only after 8/9 in the morning, but the air service has been disrupted since Thursday due to the strong winds.

Tara, Summit Air flights have been flying from Nepalgunj to Humla. The plane takes about 45 minutes to reach Humla from Nepalganj. Due to non-availability of air flights, transportation of daily consumables has been stopped. Passengers are stranded in Simkot. Due to the anger in Nepalgunj, the flight to Humla could not take place.
