Nepal Tourism Board Celebrates 24th Anniversary

KATHMANDU, Dec 02: The 24th anniversary of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) was completed on Saturday. While inaugurating the anniversary organized by the NTB, Suresh Adhikari, Secretary-Chairman of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, said that a new strategy is necessary for promoting tourism in the changing global environment.

Adhikari, who is also the chairman of the NTB, said that it is a good sign that the tourism industry which has been affected by covid is gradually returning to the rhythm and said that the government should implement new tourism promotion programs in coordination and cooperation between the private sector and the NTB. 

The potential of tourism in Nepal is potential. But we have not been able to cache it. How to cache it should be our strategy. Global trends in tourism have changed recently. It is necessary to make a corresponding strategy to study all of them.'' he said.

Likewise, the Vice President of the NTB, Chandra Prasad Rijal, mentioned that there have been many ups and downs in reaching the 24th year of the establishment of the NTB said that it is the need of the day to move forward by improving the shortcomings of the past. He also pointed out the need for policy reforms for the overall development of the tourism sector.

Cheif Executive Officer (CEO) of NTB Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi mentioned that tourism has a great contribution in the economic development of Nepal and said that the state should give more priority to the tourism industry for earning foreign exchange and creating jobs. He emphasized that the cooperation between the government, the board and the private sector should be made more effective in the search and expansion of new destinations.

On the occasion of the anniversary, who contributed in an institutional manner to revive the tourism of Nepal during the time of Covid, Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), Taking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and other organizations were honored.

Similarly, on this occasion, certificates were distributed to the employees working in various branches of the NTB as excellent employees and prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners of various games organized on the occasion of the anniversary. Similarly, the executive members of the NTB, including the board's chairman, ceo Regmi, released 'Infocus 2022', which is published by the board every year.
