'Hop-on hop-off' city bus to be operates to take tourists visit heritage area

KATHMANDU, Dec 13: 'Hop-on hop-off' city bus is going to be operated to make it easier for tourists to visit the heritage areas in Kathmandu Valley.

The ``Hop-on Hop-off'' city bus, which is going to be started so that the foreign and local tourists who come to visit the cultural heritage of the valley, can easily visit the heritage area, has also been inspected in the area on Sunday.

The observation was attended by bus operators, experts, traffic police, Ministry of Tourism and Nepal Tourism Board.

In Kathmandu, preparations have been started to allow tourists to travel the entire route at a limited fare in order to address the inconvenience of public transportation to visit the heritage areas.

Tourists will be able to visit the main tourist areas within a few hours after the 'Hop-on Hop-off' bus will be operated in Kathmandu's world heritage sites and main tourist areas.

For 'Hop-on Hop-off' service will be provided by electric shared buses conforming to international standards.

In the first phase of the campaign, it is planned to use 6 electric buses of common transport.

Bhushan Tuladhar, a member of the Joint Transport Steering Committee, informed that preparations have been made to operate buses commercially within 2-3 months.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has given priority to 'Hop on Hop off' bus operation in the tourism revitalization action plan.

The ministry has advanced an action plan for the development of the tourism sector to support the economy by protecting and promoting the cultural heritage.

Hikmat Singh Ayer, senior director of Nepal Tourism Board, said that Hop on Hop Off is going to start the heritage tour as per the plan to convey the message that Nepal is worth visiting for tourists in twelve months.
