KATHMANDU, Dec 10: The Tourist Police has moved rapidly to make its services more effective. In line with the objective of providing reliable security and information to tourists, Tourist Police Post Thamel has been providing 24-hour service.

DSP Sugandh Shrestha, head of the tourist police unit, has said that the tourist police is ready to provide reliable security and information to tourists, keeping in mind that the activities of tourists are increasing day by day after Corona and the night services are also increasing in various tourist areas of Thamel.

Accordingly, the tourist police post Thamel is providing 24-hour service while the Tribhuvan International Airport is operating 21 hours and the tourist police is also providing service from 6 am to 3 am, said DSP Shrestha.

He said that currently there is a tourist police post but work is being done to provide active service by deputing the police to the places where they are not working. "Police are being assigned to various locations, providing excellent service, checking and correcting all the articles written about the tourist police so that the tourists do not face any problem and do not get any wrong information," he said.

The Tourist Police was established in the year 2035 in accordance with the objective of providing security and information to foreign tourists visiting Nepal, as well as creating a safe and comfortable environment and solving any problems encountered by tourists during their stay in Nepal.

Currently, the tourist police has expanded to 10 locations in 3 districts of the valley and 28 locations in 12 districts outside the valley. Although there is a tourist police unit in some locations outside the valley, since that unit is not involved in operations, initiatives are being taken to activate those units in the operations in line with the responsibilities of the tourist police.
