Nepal Airlines to sell five Chinese aircrafts

KATHMANDU, Dec 07: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started the process for the sale of 5 Chinese aircraft.

After no one showed interest in leasing Chinese aircrafts, NAC started the evaluation process for the sale of 2 MA-60 and 3 Y-12 aircrafts. A tender has been invited to select a company for the appraisal of the vessel.

NAC has requested proposals from firms and companies willing to fully evaluate these planes within the standards of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading.

NAC has issued a notification for the selection of companies by giving 15 days time.

Earlier, NAC had tendered to lease the aircrafts for 2 times in September and November.

NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka informed that since no one showed interest in renting the plane, NAC is going to evaluate the aircrafts in its as-is condition for sale. All five aircrafts have been grounded since July 2077.

According to spokesperson Khadka, the government had previously given two options for these aircrafts.

"There was an agreement with the Ministry of Finance that if the plane is not leased, it will be sold," she said.

Based on the valuation, the corporation will determine the value of these vessels.
