Domestic tourist crowded at Rupse Falls

MYAGDI, Nov 21: Annapurna rural municipality-3 in Dana area of North Myagdi is an attractive place on the Annapurna cycle route, Rupse waterfall, the beauty of this place is increasing due to the domestic tourists who come to enjoy it.

Due to domestic tourists coming from different districts to enjoy this waterfall under the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road section (Kaligandaki Corridor), the crowd has started to increase in the waterfall. Most of the tourists who visit Mustang spend some time at Rupse Falls.

Rupse waterfall is also the choice of tourists coming and going to Mustang by motorcycle and private and rental vehicles. The severe flood two years ago and last year's landslide swept away the tourist infrastructure near the Rupse waterfall. In this waterfall falling from a high mountain, tourists have been taking pictures and making tiktok in the nearby stones and water of the waterfall.

Even though the Rupse waterfall, which was damaged due to infrastructure construction, was damaged by the flood last year, after the risk of corona infection decreased, this waterfall has returned to its old rhythm due to the tourists who came to enjoy Rupse.

The world's deepest and most beautiful Rupse Falls are located in the same place. Although the waterfall and Andhagalchi are of touristic importance, the locals have not been able to take proper benefit from it. Local residents said that they were not able to benefit from allowing tourists to visit for free.

Tourists who came to enjoy the waterfall stopped their cars on the road and became enthralled by the view of the waterfall, so the road is also blocked. Tourists are demanding that there should be a well-arranged footpath to reach the waterfall and a view tower for observation, as well as proper accommodation and toilets for the observers.

In 1975, a photograph of the Rupse waterfall was affixed on a 75-paisa postage stamp, but the stamp is no longer in circulation. Dana Village of Sawik has built a footpath and a view tower leading to the main part of the waterfall and Andhagalchi.

Former head of Annapurna Rural Municipality Kya Dam Bahadur Pun said that the rural municipality should prioritize the budget allocation for the infrastructure development of basic needs and come up with a plan to keep the beauty of Rupse alive.

Believing that the waterfall is the abode of Kancha Bhumedeva, every year in the month of May, the local people sacrifice a goat. There is a possibility that the waterfall can be made a tourist destination even from a religious point of view.
