Calibration flights at Pokhara International Airport from Monday

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Calibration flight (mechanical flight) at Pokhara International Airport is going to start from Monday. For that, Aero Thai's plane reached the old airport in Pokhara on Saturday morning.

After the main construction work and cutting of 14 meters of Rithepani hill, calibration flight is about to take place at the said airport. Calibration flights are also going to be conducted from this area, which is the hub of the domestic airport, in preparation for international flights. Airport project chief Vinesh Munankarmi informed that the plane of Aero Thai landed at the old airport on Saturday morning.

He informed us that with the arrival of Aero Thai's plane, there will be a calibration flight at 10 am and noon on Monday. After the construction of the airport and in the completed airport from time to time such flights are conducted. Calibration flight is done before regular flight to find out whether the mechanical equipment in the airport is working or not, if there is any error.

Head of Pokhara Airport, Vikramraj Gautam, informed that Aero Thai is scheduled to conduct a calibration flight on Monday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. "Discussions have been made with the officials of the airline company about how many flights can be made at this time," Gautam said, "Airlines can fly before the calibration flight." There will be no other flights from 10 am to 1 am.

He said that airline companies can make maximum use of the morning time. Similarly, they will be able to fly within the period of 1:00 to 2:00 and 30 minutes. He said that the regular flight will be affected when the calibration flight takes place, and how much depends on the environment and traffic.

After the success of mechanical flight, the way to operate Pokhara International Airport will be opened. Buddha Air, a private airline company, has announced the flight schedule from this airport. Because the calibration flight will take time and the date of regular operation is yet to be determined, Buddha has not opened the ticket booking. Buddha Air has announced plans to start flights from this airport to three destinations in India. Initially, it will fly Pokhara-Banaras-Pokhara. After the start of international flights from this airport, the number of airports serving international flights from Nepal will reach 3. The second international airport (Gautam Buddha) has come into operation at Bhairahawa in Rupandehi, Lumbini Province.
