Calibration flight will affect more than 30 flights daily

POKHARA, Nov 20: Due to the calibration flight at Pokhara Regional International Airport, the regular flight of Pokhara Airport is going to be affected. The information officer of Pokhara Airport, Devraj Subedi, informed that more than 30 regular flights of Pokhara Airport will be affected by the calibration flight.

Therefore, lately there is a trend of flying only after 9 o'clock", information officer Subedi said, "even if there is a flight after the weather opens, all flights after 2 o'clock will be affected." According to him, there are more than 40 regular flights from Pokhara airport every day.

As the calibration flight will be affected due to the landfill site near the airport, the project said that bird activity will be reduced by covering the landfill site. Although the project has repeatedly requested to find an alternative to the landfill site since the beginning, the Pokhara metropolis has not yet been able to provide an alternative.

Because of this, the project has requested the Pokhara metropolis not to dump waste at the landfill site from November 21. The metropolis has informed that it is studying the options of landfill sites in 7 different places, but it has not been decided.

Civil Aviation Authority Nepal is preparing to start regular flights from English New Year i.e. January 1. On May 31, 2014, the contract for the construction of the airport was signed between the Civil Aviation Authority and China CAMC Engineering Company Limited, and construction began in November 2017.

Although it was mentioned in the contract that it should be completed on June 10, 2021, the deadline was extended by one year after the work was not completed within the stipulated time.
