Mechanical test flights at airports across country

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Airports all over the country will have mechanical flights starting Thursday. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is going to conduct mechanized flights from Thursday at airports across the country that are equipped with flight related equipment (navigation equipment).

A mechanical flight is conducted to test whether the equipment connected to the airport is working or not. In a mechanical flight, air traffic control, towers, runways and lights, communication devices connected to the airport are tested to see if they work or not.
 
At least six months and maximum two years of mechanical flying.

Aerothai's team has arrived in Nepal for mechanical flight. Aerothai's team consists of Aerothai pilots, radio, aeronautical, electronic engineers and technicians.

The team will conduct a mechanical test flight at Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa today. Arriving in Kathmandu on Sunday, Aerothai's plane equipped with technical equipment went to Bhairahawa after conducting a mechanical test of Tribhuvan International Airport's radar and other areas.

A test flight will be conducted at Nepalgunj Airport on Friday. A mechanical test flight will also be conducted at Pokhara International Airport. After the report of a successful mechanical test flight, Pokhara International Airport will be considered suitable for commercial flights.

According to CAAN there will be mechanical test flights at Kathmandu, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Dhangadhi and Chandragarhi airports.
