Tatopani Kund becoming a destination for health tourism

MYAGDI, Nov 18: The natural hot water pool in Beni Municipality-4 Shinga of Myagdi has become a health tourism destination. There is a crowd of patients and relatives who have come to get treatment in Tatopani of Myagdi, which is famous as a natural hospital. Hotels and homestays in Tatopani are full.

According to Kumar KC, Secretary of Tatopani Kund Management Committee, around 200 to 300 patients come to bathe in the tank every day. He informed that now arrangements have been made to bathe in the pool by taking turns.

The committee said that after the election, the necessary facilities have been added with the expectation that the crowd will increase considerably compared to the previous one. Located on the banks of the Myagdi River, which flows from west to east, in Tatopani Kund, water with a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius naturally emerges from the ground.

It is believed that rheumatism, back pain, gastric, skin and other diseases will be cured if you bathe in the pool for three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening for seven to ten days while drinking hot water mixed with the smell of bire salt. Sharmila Gautam, who came to bathe in the hot water for the first time from Dhikichaur in Baglung, said that her back pain has subsided after being immersed in the hot water for seven consecutive days.

Here there is a crowd of people who bathe in the hot water tank for a week to 15 days in a row for treatment. Even after being treated in big hospitals in Nepal and India, patients who have not recovered come to him for treatment. Local Krishna Bahadur KC said that patients who reach Tatopani Kund with the help of their family and relatives, after taking a bath for a week, return home on their own feet. "Tatopani Kund is becoming a center of health tourism, it has increased the pride of Myagdi district and the income of the locals has also increased, those who went abroad have also started to do hotel and other business here", KC said.

Birendraman Shakya, chairman of the Kund Management Committee, said that about 20,000 people come to take a place in Tatopani every year. Except for the 2 years of the Corona period, in the previous years, there used to be a huge crowd here from October to February. According to the Kund Management Committee, more than 700 people have bathed till the second week of October.

The number of patients coming to take baths is increasing not only from Nepal, but also from India and third countries. As the number of people coming to bathe has increased, arrangements have been made for men and women to bathe alternately.
