NAC will not be given 'ground handling' at Pokhara International Airport

BHAIRAHAWA, Nov 04: Pokhara International Airport's ground handling service will not be directly provided by Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has said that it will do the ground handling of Pokhara itself. NAC is providing ground handling services at Tribhuvan International Airport. Even at Gautam Buddha International Airport, NAC is doing this work so far.

Now that Pokhara Airport is being prepared, CAAN has said that it will proceed in a different way.

According to Pradeep Adhikari, director general of CAAN, with many disputes over ground handling, now CAAN has decided to run such a service by itself. "This authority runs itself, or it is decided in the competition," he said.

He informed that a decision will be made about providing such service on the basis of competition even at Gautam Buddha International Airport.

Lately, Himalaya Airlines has demanded to provide commercial ground handling services at Tribhuvan International Airport and at Gautam Buddha. According to the director general officer, even in Bhairahawa, the decision will be taken only on the basis of competition.
