CAAN sought an explanation from NAC

KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has asked the Nepal Airlines corporation (NAC) for a 24-hour explanation for issuing boarding passes to passengers without approving the flight schedule.

On Monday, issuing a press release,CAAN asked NAC for an explanation saying that the security of the airport has been seriously affected by issuing boarding passes without approving the flight schedule.

It is mentioned in the advertisement that an explanation has been sought about why NAC is trying to fly within 24 hours after giving boarding passes to passengers without permission.

In the statement, it is said, 'Even if there is no flight, the passengers of that flight should be notified in time and alternative arrangements should be made, the reason for not doing so and the passengers being called to the airport on the day of non-flight and providing them with boarding passes in an illegal manner, according to the Non-Military Air Flight Act, 2015 and Regulations, 2073 NAC has been asked for an explanation as it has seriously affected the system.'

It is stated in the statement issued by CAAN that NAC has acted against the Chicago Convention and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flight safety standards and the  Civil Aviation Authority Nepal Act 2053 and the Civil Aviation Regulations, 2048.

Likewise, Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of CAAN, instructs the airlines not to sell and distribute any flight tickets and to operate only those flights that have received permission from CAAN.
