CAAN reduced flight schedule of Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines

CAAN reduced flight schedule of Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: The flight schedule of Nepal Airlines (NAC) and Himalaya Airlines has been reduced.

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has reduced the flight schedule of both airlines with effect from Sunday after not flying from Gautam Buddha International Airport despite repeated warnings.

Gyanendra Bhul, information officer of CAAN, informed that both Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines have reduced 1 flight equal to 3 in the schedule of flights from Tribhuvan International Airport.

The reduced flight schedule from Tribhuvan International Airport should now be done from Gautam Buddha Airport However, till now, Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines have not made any arrangements for flights from Gautam Buddha Airport.

CAAN has also issued instructions to operate the reduced flights from Gautam Buddha Airport. Airlines flying through Nepal have been reduced in the new schedule to be fixed from Sunday to March 25, 2023.

Along with this, other international airlines flying to Nepal have also been given permission for 2 of the 3 flights till February 15, 2023, 1 flight till December 15, 2022 and they must fly from Gautam Buddha after December 16.

Information Officer Bhul informed that along with the runway expansion work of Tribhuvan International Airport, the flights at Bhairahawa Airport also need to be increased.

Due to the problem of putting pressure on foreigners when the domestic airlines themselves refused to take international flights from Bhairahawa, CAAN is preparing to make Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines mandatory at the beginning and then other airlines to fly to Bhairahawa as well.

A few days ago, CAAN had written to Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines  and instructed them to fly from Gautam Buddha Airport. Both the airlines have not made public the schedule of where the flights have been cut.

Currently, CAAN has given a 50 percent discount on the ground handling charges of international flights from Bhairahawa airport. Landing, parking, navigation and security charges have been waived for one year after the airport has been in operation for one year.

Currently, only Jazeera Airways is flying from Gautam Buddha Airport.
