KATHMANDU, Oct 20: As preparations for the air service agreement between Nepal and the US are progressing, the US is going to study Nepal's air security. Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) informed that a mission of the Federal Aviation Administration, the regulatory body of American civil aviation, is going to start studying the air safety situation in Nepal from Thursday. According to him, this mission will study the current situation of Nepal in the 8 different areas that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is looking at.

Nepal has recently received the final report of the air safety audit conducted by ICAO in Nepal this year. In which the compliance rate achieved by Nepal in the designated areas has reached 70.1 percent. According to CAAN, it has also facilitated the audit of other international bodies. A few weeks ago, CAAN agreed with Switzerland about the operation of air services. With this agreement, preparations for an air service agreement with the US have also progressed. Before that, a study is going to be conducted by the US regulatory body about Nepal's air safety.
