CAAN conducted an audit conducted by a team of 10 ICAO members in eight regions of Nepal. In a press conference, Raju Shrestha, the head of the CAAN's air safety department, said that Nepal has the highest air safety compliance rate in the Asia Pacific region and the world.

He said that ICAO has shown a high improvement in Nepal's air safety compliance. He informed that CAAN has started homework to eliminate the shortcomings pointed out by the ICAO report.

Chief Shrestha said that the CAAN has also put forward additional plans for the expansion of air services in Nepal. He said ICAO's team covered 790 questions for the larger audit. Shrestha said that with the help of ICAO, he is working with the aim of maintaining the country's air safety compliance rate at 80 percent.

He said that after ICAO's audit, the authority decided not to transfer the staff. He said that the CAAN has started to arrange a separate budget for the agency that looks after safety. He said that no weakness was found in ICAO's audit, so Nepalese skies are safe for air flights.

He claimed that the aviation safety rate in the Asia Pacific region is 64 percent. The official said that Nepal is doing a good job in air safety and should not be blacklisted by ICAO after showing air accidents in the mountains.
