Jazeera Airways stops daily flight at GBIA due to lack of passengers

BHAIRAHAWA, Oct 18: The only daily flight from Gautam Buddha International Airport has also been stopped. Stating that there are no passengers, Jazeera has informed that the daily flight will be operated three times a week.

After Jazeera Airways canceled the flights scheduled for 12th,13th and 14th of October, other passengers including passengers going for foreign employment were also affected. Jazeera did not fly even though the passengers stayed overnight at the Gautam Buddha International Airport and waited for the plane.
Govinda Prasad Dahal, General Manager of Gautam Budh Airport, informed that Jazeera made one flight on Saturday carrying only a few tourists among the passengers who had gathered for three days.

Dahal said that the official representative of Jazeera Airways informed that the regular flight will be affected because the lease of the aircraft has expired and they are in the process of purchasing a new aircraft. He said that Jazeera will not be able to fly regularly in the month of October and said that he has been assured that the flights will be regular after October.

"Jazeera said that it would take some time to get its new aircraft and that it would stop flying for a while. Yesterday, it was agreed that the flight would be delayed by one day even though the flight would not be able to be flown daily as it would cause problems for the passengers if the flight was stopped. Some problems have been solved after Jazeera took off on Saturday."

While the head of the airport was explaining the problem of the new aircraft, Amit Nagarath, country manager of Jazeera Airways said that they had to reduce the number of flights due to lack of passengers.

"We were doing three flights in the first week, and we got good passengers." Nagarath said, "We have reduced the number of flights as the number of passengers has decreased. Now we will make three flights a week as before."

Nagarath claimed that there is no demand at Gautam Buddha International Airport located in Bhairahawa. "Supply according to demand. How long will the empty plane fly?" He said, "We have come to do business, we don't fly to a place that doesn't cover our expenses."

Govinda Prasad Dahal, head of Gautam Buddha Airport, said that there are difficulties in the operation of the airport due to the fact that passengers still have to go to Kathmandu for labor, employment, medical reasons, etc.
