Govt indefinitely bans paragliding across Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: The government has banned paragliding flights across Nepal indefinitely.

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to banned all types of paragliding flights throughout the country until further arrangements are made, said Jagannath Niraula, the spokesperson of the CAAN.

"Until further arrangements are made, it has been decided to banned all types of recreational, commercial and sports paragliding flights across the country," he said.

A paragliding accident occurred during the National Games at Sarangkot in Pokhara only on Sunday. In the process, one player died. Along with this,CAAN has decided to stop paragliding flights across the country.

According to Niraula,CAAN is going to study flight safety, laws and regulations. That is why it has been decided to banned all flights for the time being, he informed.

As paragliding develops and expands, its safety issues have also become complicated. Keeping in mind the problem of lack of adequate arrangements for the safety of the driver and passengers in paragliding flights, CAAN has banned the flight until such arrangements are made.

This will closed paragliding flights across the country.
