Tourists rescued from Manang

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: A total of 82 domestic and foreign tourists have been rescued from the Himalayan district of Manang. Tourists stranded due to bad weather were rescued.

The head of Annapurna Area Conservation Project (ACAP) Lekhnath Gautam informed that the stranded tourists were rescued by helicopter after the bad weather in the district. According to him, 82 domestic and foreign tourists were rescued.

He said that out of the 16 people who reached Manang by helicopter, 13 of them were rescued from Manang Ngisang and three foreign tourists. According to him, 73 foreign tourists and 9 domestic tourists were rescued by helicopter.

He said that the stranded tourists were rescued by helicopter as the road was blocked due to flooding. Due to the incessant rain since last Tuesday, the tourists who were stranded due to adverse weather conditions in Manang were rescued.

Due to the monsoon that has entered Nepal from the Bay of Bengal, it has become a problem to use the road even at the appropriate time for tourist traffic. Due to the problem of traveling by road, for the first time in Manang, a helicopter landed 120 times in one day and rescued tourists. A new record was set by landing 120 times while rescuing foreign tourists who reached Manang on the Annapurna trail.

Tourists reached the Himalayan region of Manang, Gorkha, Mustang and Upper Dolpa. Due to continuous rain and adverse weather conditions, those tourists were stranded in the middle of the road and the tourists who came in contact were rescued. Tourists reached Annapurna in Manang, Manaslu in Gorkha, Dhaulagiri in Mustang.
