Italian government willing to protect, rebuild and restore Nepal's heritage: Ambassador Luca

KATHMANDU, Oct 10 Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha has met Italian Ambassador to Nepal  Vincenzo de Luca.

In the meeting at the Ministry, Minister Shrestha reminded that important assistance was received from the Italian government in the reconstruction of historical and cultural heritages damaged by the earthquake in 2015. Ambassador Luca said that the Italian government is willing to help in the protection, reconstruction and restoration of Nepal's heritage.

Minister Shrestha said that Nepal wants to learn about the management and protection of archaeological heritage from Italy, which is the center of European culture and heritage. Minister Shrestha informed that the construction of the Hanumandhoka-Swayambhu heritage road has been started to connect the two heritages listed in the World Heritage List and said that the heritage road will be a rare coincidence of world tourism and will also be important for tourism attraction.

Ambassador Luca said that Italy will support Nepal's tourism development. He also informed Minister Shrestha about the preparation of the Rome Expo 2030 project organized by the Italian government. He submitted a certificate of status to President Bidya Devi Bhandari as a non-resident ambassador in October 2021.
