EU's initial review of air safety audit is over
KATHMANDU, Oct 09: The European Union has made a preliminary observation for Nepal's aviation security audit. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), during the three-day preliminary observation, the representative of the EU inspected the study of the airline companies flying to difficult destinations.
The EU has conducted on-site monitoring. The EU's priority is the situation of flights to critical destinations. Now Tara Air and Summit Air were inspected as bases. It has been informed that the audit will be carried forward based on the report,' said Gyanendra Bhul, information officer of the CAAN.
He informed that three months after the preparation of the report under the SSO 'State Safety Oversight', the EU team is ready to come to Nepal for the audit.
He informed that this observation with the participation of three representatives took place from October 6 to 8. The technical team of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (IASA) has come to Nepal after eight years for the air safety audit of the country.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Organization conducted a safety audit. Nepal will be freed from the air safety list after the EU's safety audit, the authority said. According to the authority, the country's aviation security rate has reached 70 percent in ICAO's audit.
Through this air safety audit, the EU has studied eight areas including legislation, institutions, airworthiness, personal licensing, flight operations, air navigation services, aerodromes and ground aids, and accident investigations.
The European Union team has been in constant dialogue and contact with the authorities on the basis that many of its citizens died in five air accidents in Nepal between 2010 and 2012.
